Muireann had ‘manky’ infection that left her hiding her ‘hands for months’
IRELAND AM star Muireann O’Connell has opened up on her nail infection that she described as “disgusting”.
The Virgin Media presenter was forced to hide her hands “for months” after a bad reaction from nail polish.
Muireann first noticed the infection last year after getting shellac nails and ran to the chemist to get Curanail.
The anti-fungal nail lacquer cleared up the reaction but unfortunately it has come back again.
The Limerick native took to Instagram yesterday to recommend the medication to her fans who are struggling with the same problem.
She explained her situation saying: “My manky nails were fixed by this stuff. Recommended by the pharmacist.

“It was after I had a reaction to shellac. It was absolutely disgusting. I hid my hands for months. It was a fungal infection under the nails. MAAAAANKY.”
After a year without getting her nails done, Muireann tried BIAB a few weeks ago as she was told it would be “fine on the nails”.
However, Muireann’s nails lifted off the bed yet again and she had to get Curanail again.
Muireann said: “My nails are basically paper and discoloured now.”

The popular presenter gave her followers some advice saying: “This stuff is not for your nails if they’re just looking in rough shape. It is a fungal treatment.
“If you feel like you have any sort of infection or there’s something up with your nails, please see your pharmacist or GP.
“I very much don’t know what I’m talking about and got advice from professionals.”
Muireann’s friends and fans appreciated the help and related to her recurring problem.
Linda commented: “Love the nail advice! Mine are in a jocker after acrylics…never again.”
Bernie wrote: “I had the same problem with my nails. No more BIAB for me.”
HOT HOST
Evelyn said: “Oh Christ.. lifted off the nail bed. Sounds horrific.”
Last week Muireann rocked a glamorous new hairstyle on air.
The Virgin Media host looked sensational as she steered away from her usual straight haired silhouette and opted for some bouncy Hollywood curls.
Muireann took to Instagram before the show to flaunt her latest hair transformation and looked delighted with the results.
While standing on set in the Virgin Media studio, the Limerick lady recorded her hairstylist touching up her blonde hair.
