My favourite room: ‘Home is the thing that excites me most’ – Inside Brendan Courtney’s spacious loft-style Dublin pad

Brendan Courtney wears many career hats — broadcaster, designer, entrepreneur, activist. Fittingly, he has also had many homes, including properties in London, Cape Town, Wicklow and Dublin

“I’m not going to lie to you, home is the thing that excites me most,” Brendan Courtney says as he shows off the colourful cushions, throws and mango-wood bowls from the Lennon Courtney collection for Kilkenny Design. “I’ve wanted to do homewares for years. Other people’s homes excite me, other people’s tastes, what they like, what they don’t like, even what their homes smell like.”

These utterings could be construed as PR speak except for the fact that we’ve seen Brendan get very excited about other people’s homes in his hugely engaging RTÉ series Keys to My Life, in which he brings celebrities around the houses they’ve lived in and has them reminisce about the things that happened in these houses that shaped their lives.
