Nate Diaz reacts to learning that his foe Conor McGregor got richer by winning a bet because of him

Conor McGregor has added a substantial sum to his fortune after winning £1.2 million by betting on Nate Diaz to triumph over Jorge Masvidal in their recent boxing match. The rivalry between Masvidal and Diaz dates back to their 2019 UFC fight, which ended in a controversial stoppage due to a severe cut on Diaz, leading to a Masvidal victory. The unresolved tension led to a rematch five years later, this time in the boxing ring.

Ahead of the bout, McGregor publicly backed his old UFC rival Diaz, with whom he has a 1-1 record, placing a hefty wager on Diaz to avenge his previous loss.

“I’ve decided to put $500,000 on Diaz to win tonight’s boxing match,” McGregor said.

“Range, form, experience, solely hands being used, I can’t see Masvidal causing any problems to Nate in a boxing ring whatsoever… $500k gets me back $1,625,000 all in.”

Diaz’s reaction

Diaz managed to defeat Masvidal via majority decision, securing McGregor‘s significant win. After his victory, he was asked about McGregor‘s successful decision to place a bet on him.

“That’s cool, good job for us,” Diaz responded.

McGregor and Diaz share a storied history, with Diaz handing McGregor his first UFC defeat in March 2016 before McGregor evened the score in a rematch five months later.

This time, it was Diaz‘s turn to claim victory in a rematch, using his relentless volume of punches to outlast Masvidal‘s powerful strikes.
