New chipper announces unexpected closure just weeks after opening
A new Irish chip shop has closed its doors after being open for just two weeks as owners tell customers to ‘keep an eye out’ in future.
Hook’s Fish and Chips in Ennis, Co. Clare have revealed that they are closing down as they cite ‘financial reasons’ in a sudden announcement this week.
The news came as a surprise to locals as the chip shop had only just opened on Carmody Street a couple of weeks previous.

However in the chipper’s announcement, owners promised locals that they would be back as they consider a ‘different location’ closer to town
The announcement read: “Hello, we would like to announce that we are closing down due to financial reasons.
“We will be considering a different location , closer to town in the future…keep an eye out, we will [be] back!!
“Thank you so much for showing us support and visiting us for the past two weeks, it was an absolute pleasure to serve our amazing food to you guys.”
Elsewhere this week, a Galway community is rejoicing as a beloved coffee shop reopens in the area boasting a brand new menu.
The Crafty Crab cafe has announced its official reopening in Cleggan, Connemara as its owners welcome customers back through the door.
The cafe has also announced a new extended menu boasting more takeaway options.
The news was announced with a post on social media this week as the reopening date was revealed as Friday May 31.
The post read: “We are delighted to announce we are reopening the Crafty Crab Cafe next Friday morning 31st May 2024 at 10am.
“We are thrilled to announce we have a new coffee bean partner, Baristo Vienna. A superior blend to enhance your taste buds.
“We will announce an extended menu during the week with more takeaway options coming available.
“We are looking forward to welcoming back all our customers old and new, and as always we are extremely grateful for your continued support.”
The post drew huge support from the community as several wished the owners the best of luck.
One person wrote: “Great news, best of luck!”
Another said: “Best of luck to you!”
