New Coffee Addict café in Cork seeking to impress customers with quality fare
The new business is set to open on Monday in Macroom
A Macroom entrepreneur is set to open a new takeaway café, titled Coffee Addict, that promises to offer coffee and ice cream which is far from “bog standard” on New Street next week.
‘Coffee Addict’ is the latest enterprise to be setup by Macroom local Brendan Hedley, who has operated his Burrito Addict business around midwest Cork since 2017.
Brendan told The Corkman that the café, set to open on Monday, will offer an exciting combination of quality coffee from Cork city roastery Café Moly and gourmet ice cream which is the richest and creamiest around.
“We want to try to have really good stuff. We always want people to be impressed with it, not the bog standard,” Brendan said.
“Like when somebody takes a bite of one of our burritos and they go ‘Oh’, you can tell they mean it.”
Brendan, who is originally from Rhode Island in the USA, said that the idea to open the café came when he first moved to Macroom in 2019, when he found that dedicated cafés were few and far between.
Since then, several coffee shops have opened in the town but this has not discouraged the businessman from setting up his café at the New Street premises, which also serves as a preparation space for his burrito business.
“We’ll see how it goes,” Brendan said.
“I think bringing it to this side of town is good as well.”
Looking forward to getting the business up and running, Brendan said that he hopes that the new café will get some “good feedback” from customers and create a community based around coffee in Macroom.
