Newcastle United want £100 million package to sell Anthony Gordon
Newcastle United will demand at least £100 million including add-ons to sell top-rated attacker Anthony Gordon to Liverpool.
According to Football Insider, Liverpool will have to shell out a massive sum of £100 million to sign Anthony Gordon. The 23-year-old Newcastle star has been a player on the rise at Tyneside, as Eddie Howe’s side will certainly look at these links to Merseyside as a big opportunity to rake in the profits.
Anthony Gordon’s asking price revealed
The Anthony Gordon saga could take a big twist and probably get going from this point onwards, as Liverpool might be looking to accelerate their pursuit. The Reds are keen on a new left-sided wide forward and have been keeping tabs on the 23-year-old Newcastle star for quite some time now.
Newcastle United are confident of keeping Gordon and have slapped a £100 million asking price on the 23-year-old winger. The asking rate might come as a surprise to many, although Gordon’s stock has risen rather prominently since making his £45 million move to the club from Everton.
Hence, the Magpies are willing to cash in for the right price, as they are confident of achieving that £100 million target given the level of interest in Gordon. Liverpool once had the winger on their books but released him as an 11-year-old, only for him to go on to make a name at rivals Everton.
Earlier, the Magpies reportedly demanded Jarell Quansah, but Liverpool rebuffed the idea as they are not keen to lose the defender. Hence, Newcastle United are now demanding at least £75-80 million in fixed fees, and if Liverpool manages to add another £20 million or so in add-ons, they could land Gordon this summer.
What will Gordon’s arrival mean for Liverpool?
Newcastle United will certainly weaken with the sale of Gordon, while Liverpool will benefit from having one of the brightest English attackers. Gordon seems already distracted by the rumours linking him to Anfield, as Arne Slot’s side could have a genuine chance of landing him.
They could also sell Luis Diaz if they can sign Gordon this summer, as the 23-year-old Newcastle star will be seen as an ideal replacement for the Colombian. With the South American winger already attracting interest from elsewhere, Liverpool can offset a large chunk of Gordon’s transfer fees with the money they might receive for Diaz.
