No Olympic ticket for Latvian basketball team

The result means unfortunately they will not advance to the basketball tournament at the Olympic Games in Paris. and were left without a ticket to Paris.

Despite high hopes, home advantage and the overwhelming support of a partisan crowd, the Brazilians proved to be simply too strong and recorded a convincing win which means they will be in the mix at the Olympic Games instead. After opening up an early lead, they effectively controlled the game throughout, despite the best efforts of the home team to play catch-up.

Latvian men’s basketball team have participated in the Olympic Games once only: 1936 in Berlin. On the other hand, the debut and so far only Olympic tournament for the women’s national team was in 2008 in Beijing.

Brazil will play in the group stage of the Paris Olympic Games in Lille against the national teams of France, Germany and Japan.
