No Ringrose but Leinster recall frontliners for Ulster
Leinster have recalled 12 of the starters from their Champions Cup final defeat for tomorrow’s BKT URC quarter-final against Ulster (Aviva Stadium, 5pm).
However, the game comes too soon for Garry Ringrose, who is still recovering from a shoulder injury.
Ross Byrne starts at out-half, while James Ryan captains the team from the second row.
Leo Cullen’s matchday 23 has over 2,400 Leinster appearances, with ten centurions selected in the squad.
After a two-try salvo in last weekend’s victory over Connacht, Jimmy O’Brien keeps his place at full-back.
He’s joined in the back-three by Jordan Larmour and James Lowe.
Robbie Henshaw and Jamie Osborne continue their partnership in the centre, while Byrne and Jamison Gibson-Park complete the back line.
In the pack, Andrew Porter, Dan Sheehan and Tadhg Furlong form the front row.
Ryan is joined by Joe McCarthy in the second row, while Ryan Baird, Josh van der Flier and Caelan Doris pack down in the back row. Among the replacements, both Sam Prendergast and Ciarán Frawley are named amongst the backs.
Meanwhile, Stuart McCloskey returns for Ulster after withdrawing during the warm-up before their loss to Munster last weekend but Kieran Treadwell and Alan O’Connor miss out through injury.
Rob Herring captains Richie Murphy’s side and is joined by Eric O’Sullivan at loosehead prop and Tom O’Toole at tighthead prop in an unchanged front row.
Harry Sheridan starts alongside Cormac Izuchukwu in the second row.
The back row sees Matty Rea make his 100th Ulster appearance, as he starts at blindside flanker.
David McCann, who scored a try against Munster, keeps his spot at openside flanker. Nick Timoney retains his spot at 8.
John Cooney starts at scrum-half and Munster-bound Billy Burns is at 10.
Jacob Stockdale starts on the left wing, with Mike Lowry again starting on the right wing.
McCloskey is joined by Will Addison at outside centre.
Full-back Stewart Moore completes the back-three.
Tom Stewart, Andy Warwick, Scott Wilson, Greg Jones and Dave Ewers provide the forward options from the bench.
Nathan Doak, Ethan McIlroy and Jude Postlethwaite form the back options.
