O’Leary, Carton, Fitzgibbon and Mogan claim POTM awards
It was a good month for Munster players as Danielle O’Leary, Beth Carton and Darragh Fitzgibbon all picked up PwC GPA awards for May.
O’Leary kicked 10 points as Kerry won their first Munster title since 2017, while Carson impressed for Waterford as they made it to the provincial camogie final, giving as good as they got against the Rebels before narrowly losing out.
She also contributed 1-11 in their Munster semi-final victory over Tipperary.
Fitzgibbon, meanwhile, played a crucial role for the Cork hurlers as they saved their season against Limerick at Páirc Uí Chaoimh, beating the six-in-a-row Munster SHC chasing Treaty men to stay in the provincial championship, and following it up with a critical win over Tipperary.
Peadar Mogan was named the the PwC GAA/GPA Footballer of the Month, after helping Donegal to reclaim the Anglo-Celt Cup with a penalty shootout win over Armagh, following it up with an All-Ireland group stage victory over Tyrone.
GPA CEO Tom Parsons said; “Congratulations to Beth, Danielle, Darragh and Peadar on picking up these awards which are a real highlight as the season progresses. The PwC Player of the Month Awards are special as they are voted for by players and peer recognition of individual performances really does mean more.
“On behalf of players, our thanks as always to PwC who are a long-term supporter of elite inter-county athletes. Thank you too to the GAA for your ongoing partnership on these awards.”
