‘One of best’ places in Dublin forced to close over ‘current trading conditions’

A POPULAR Dublin restaurant has left fans devastated by announcing their plans to close.

The shock decision comes as “current trading conditions” made keeping the business running “unsustainable”, according to the owners.

Okky on Aungier Street, Dublin has revealed it is closing
The move comes due to current trading conditions making the location unsustainable

Okky, located at 8 Aungier Street, Dublin 2, was popular with customers for serving up tasty food at reasonable prices.

The innovative Japanese street food eatery offered both dine-in and takeout options, and was open from 12pm until late, seven days a week.

But sadly, Okky – which is short for Okonomiyaki, a savoury Japanese pancake – is preparing to close it’s doors due to financial restraints.

The owners announced the move on social media and thanked customers for their support.

They also hinted at plans to open in a different venue if the opportunity arises.

Confirming the closure, they said in a statement: “Sadly, our time at 8 Aungier Street has come to an end.

“Unfortunately, current trading conditions made this beloved unit unsustainable.

“It was truly a joy to serve Okonomiyaki to so many vibrant and curious people and we hope to return to a different location in the near future.
