Palm Beach boys tennis first team, second team, honorable mention and coach of the year

FIRST TEAM

Enzo Carvalho, Boca Raton freshman: Won the district championship and finished the year at 9-5 for the Bobcats; fell in the state quarterfinals to eventual state champion Jack Satterfeld of Tampa Plant.

Julian Fente, St. Andrew’s senior: Team captain was undefeated at No. 2 singles (10-0) and No. 1 doubles (8-0) for the state champion Scots; also captured overall doubles championship with partner Nico Snyder; headed to Princeton for academics.

Ajinkya Karnataki, American Heritage-Delray sophomore: Team captain moved up to line one this season following the graduation of the top three players; went 14-1 in singles and 9-1 in doubles and helped Stallions to a second straight state title; after losing in the district final, went undefeated the rest of the way.

Michael Shalom, Dwyer junior: Team captain and school-record holder for the Panthers; finished 12-2 for the year at singles and doubles with identical twin, Matthew; was undefeated during the regular season; season highlight was gaining confidence as a player.

Alexander Georgiev, FAU High junior: Team captain for three years won the district team title and individual singles title to become the first player to reach the state tournament in school history and has done it twice in a row; started the recruiting process.

Doubles

Nico Snyder/Julian Fente, St. Andrew’s senior/senior: Won the overall doubles title and finished undefeated for the state champion Scots.

Ajinkya Karnataki/Yanni Anagnostopoulos, American Heritage-Delray sophomores: Helped the Stallions win the state championship.

Nico (Snyder) and Julian (Fente) did a great job in winning the triple crown (team, singles, doubles championships).”
