Paul Sinha left in tears after being ‘humiliated’ on James Corden’s show
Comedian and quiz master Paul Sinha has shared details about an embarrassing incident on a TV show that left him shedding tears in a taxi ride home.
In his 2024 book ‘One Sinha Lifetime: Comedy, disaster and one man’s quest for happiness’, the 54-year-old claims he had an unsavoury experience in the 2009 pilot episode of Sky’s A League of Their Own.
The Chase star spoke about how ex-cricketer Stuart Broad was jokingly positioned as his dream “future husband”.

James Corden, the show host, asked him: “So, Paul – I understand you really fancy Stuart.”
Sinha recalls not taking issue with the awkward question and noted: “If you set yourself up as a gay comic who likes to playfully flirt with straight men, then you need to be able to own your persona on comedy panel shows.”
However, matters took an unpleasant turn when John Bishop, another guest comedian, sent out a distasteful quip saying: “Stuart, how does it feel to be sat next to a man who’s w***ed over your photos?”
Sinha stated that he wasn’t surprised to find he didn’t end up in the following TV series.
He recounted memories of being ignored at the afterparty and “crying for most of the taxi journey” home evoke fresh emotions.
He candidly admitted that he still remained undecided if he should have welcomed or rejected such line of questioning and at that moment he chose to remain “unfunny” and quiet.
The Chase’s ‘Sinnerman’ shared a cringeworthy moment from his stint on the sports-themed panel show, where Corden’s dad delivered a savage review of the guests.
After the recording, Corden asked his father if he’d enjoyed the six guests, only to receive a blunt response that he liked five, leaving Corden stunned by his dad’s “callous takedown” and prompting laughter from the audience.
Before dropping details about his new memoir, Paul, who juggles careers as a comedian, doctor, and quizzer, appeared on BBC Breakfast to talk about living with Parkinson’s disease.
Despite the tough symptoms, he assured fans that his mind was sharp and quizzing on The Chase was still on the cards, saying: “As long as my brain functions and I can fulfil my dreams of being a stand-up comedian and quizzer, I’m a happy man! I hope you’ll agree my medication seems to be controlling things quite well.”
In a candid revelation about his personal life in 2023, Paul, who is married to Oliver Levy, recounted the accidental way he came out to his parents at 24. A drunken reveal at a house party led to his mum finding out, which initially “didn’t land well”. However, Paul now looks back at the incident with a sense of humour.
