People are leaving County Kildare town ‘with a bad taste in their mouth’

People are leaving Naas with a bad taste in their mouth because of parking fines, according to a local politician.

Green Party councillor Bob Quinn was told that a total of 4205 parking fines were issued to motorists who parked on the street during 2023.

A month-by-month breakdown shows that most fines (610) were issued last December, followed by November (529) and October (470).

The fewest number of fines issued were issued  in January with 145, followed by March (179) and February (237).

The main offences were given as not displaying tax, not having a parking ticket or a permit, parking on a double yellow line and parking in a prohibited place.
