The arrival of swallows and swifts from sub-Saharan Africa, chirping as they feast on the fly, are the sounds of summer. But they’re not the only “native” birds worth celebrating (as summer migrants for millennia, they’re classed as Irish natives). Feather & Flock (Apple, Spotify; rte.ie) is a gorgeous new six-part series in RTÉ Lyric FM’s Sunday evening documentary slot, with ecologist Anja Murray and musician Brían Mac Gloinn profiling an “iconic native” bird each episode.
