Police Raid 3 Online Game Arenas Online Gambling Locations In Purwokerto, 28 People Arrested

The police raided three online gaming arenas in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Central Java, suspected of being an online gambling spot.

“Today we visited three locations because we received information from the public regarding the online gameplay place (online) which should be suspected to be used as an online gambling activity,” said Head of the Banyumas Police Satreskrim Commissioner Ardiansyah Rithas Hasibuan in Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Wednesday, June 19 evening, confiscated by Antara.

He said the three online game arenas were in Purwokerto Lor Village and Kranji Village, East Purwokerto District; and Bobosan Village, West Purwokerto District.

According to him, his party has secured dozens of people from the three locations and is still being examined as witnesses.

In this case, he continued, the number of witnesses in two locations is about 20 people each and the other is 8 people.

“Currently, we are still investigating by asking for information from witnesses,” he said.

Asked about the evidence that was secured, he said that currently his party has determined the status quo for the three online game arenas.

According to him, his party will immediately inform if there is evidence that has been secured by the Banyumas Police Satreskrim.

“At the location, we did find several monitors, computer CPUs, and some of the tools used for the game,” said Kasatreskrim.

From observations at one of the raid locations in Purwokerto Lor Village, the rented house that is used as an online gaming arena has been installed with a police line.

One resident of Purwokerto Lor Village RT 02 RW 02, Ahmad Subekti (59) admitted that initially local residents were not suspicious of the activities at home in the south of the Pioneer Field.

“I don’t know, there are indeed many people in and out of the shophouse. We knew they were playing online games,” he said.

However, he said, gradually residents were suspicious of the activities at the shophouse because there were so many motorbikes parked in the yard of the place for up to 24 hours.

“In online games, why is that all,” he said.
