Post-mortem completed on Limerick dog attack victim
A post-mortem examination has been completed on the body of a 23-year-old woman who died after being attacked by an XL Bully dog in Co Limerick.
Nicole Morey died after sustaining extensive injuries when she returned to a house near Ballyneety late on Tuesday night.
The dog which attacked her was shot by members of the garda armed response unit, who were called to assist at the scene.
Gardaí confirmed that three other dogs seized at the property have also been put down. All were restricted breeds – one was an XL Bully and the remaining two were crossbreeds.
Ms Morey’s body has now been released to her family to allow funeral arrangements to be made.
Inquiries into all the circumstances surrounding her death are continuing, with gardaí also preparing a file for the coronor for an inquest into her death to be conducted at a date in the future.
It is understood that some images of the attack were circulated on social media and gardaí have repeated their appeal for this to cease in deference to the bereaved family and the friends of the late Ms Morey.
