Postecoglou’s future Tottenham team as Bergvall starts, Hall and Moore unleashed

The future could be very bright indeed for Tottenham Hotspur Football Club following some smart investments. The signings of Pape Matar Sarr and Destiny Udogie in 2021 and 2022 respectively appear to be transfer bargains with the duo going on to excel under Ange Postecoglou last season.

While Micky van de Ven certainly cost a lot more money than Sarr and Udogie, the Dutchman made an instant impression in his debut season in north London and he already looks to be one of the best centre-backs in the Premier League. Brennan Johnson also cost a sizeable fee in the 2023 summer transfer market and the hope will be that there is even more to come from him in the years ahead.

Tottenham have already added to their squad this summer with an eye on both the campaign ahead and later down the line. Lucas Bergvall, who was announced as a Spurs signing in February, could well go on to star in England’s top flight if he can replicate his form from his homeland of Sweden in the Premier League following his switch from Djurgarden.

Tuesday morning then saw Archie Gray complete his move from Leeds United after Tottenham struck a deal that involved Joe Rodon returning to Elland Road. The 18-year-old was a standout player for Leeds in the Championship last term and he may well go on to even greater heights playing under Postecoglou, who is someone he has huge admiration for given he is a Celtic fan.

As well as adding some young signings to the ranks over the past few transfer windows, Tottenham also have some excellent players coming through the system at present. Tyrese Hall and Mikey Moore have caught the eye of Postecoglou and the duo could be in line for more first-team minutes from August onwards.

Jamie Donley and Will Lankshear have formed quite a partnership playing for the development squad and they could quite easily go on to make a name for themselves in the first team if they continue to progress at their current rate.

Add into the mix fellow youngsters Luka Vuskovic, Ashley Phillips, Alfie Devine, Alejo Veliz and Dane Scarlett, Postecoglou has the nucleus of what could be a really impressive team that can play alongside one another for years to come. So what exactly could a future Tottenham XI look like?

Focusing on the players at the club who are 23 and under at present, we at football.london have put together a starting XI below.

Archie Gray’s long-term position may well be in midfield but for the purpose of this exercise we are putting him at right-back. The England Under-21s international excelled in the role for Leeds last season and that’s where we may see quite a bit of him in a Tottenham shirt.

Radu Dragusin was limited in terms of match action for Tottenham last campaign following his move from Genoa but more opportunities should be there for him in the future due to Spurs’ hectic schedule. The centre-back wowed at Euro 2024 for Romania as they reached the round of 16.
