According to detention records, Miami-Dade Police officers who were present at the venue arrested both father and son and turned them over to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at around 4 am.
The report from ESPN, also states that the son, 43 and the father, 71 were accused of fighting security guards on one of the tunnels reserved for the press 20 minutes after midnight when they were trying to gain access to the field and were denied.
Colombia lost the final 1-0 against a relentless Argentina after Lautaro Martinez saw the opportunity and took it, firing a cannon to Colombia’s net only a few minutes before the second aggregate time was over thus eliminating the chance of a penalty shootout.
Meanwhile, Jesurún’s bail is set for $2,000 and $1000 for his son, after according to the report, when both individuals were trying to access the field, they were not permitted and one of the guards touched the young man’s back to guide him in the other direction, and they “became irate” and started shouting at the security guard.
“Last night our law enforcement teams responded swiftly to handle an extremely challenging, dangerous situation posing life safety concerns for attendees,” James Reyes, the chief of public safety for Miami-Dade County, said in a statement.
“We are working with the event organizers to conduct a comprehensive review of all safety and security protocols, as we continue to prepare for the World Cup in 2026.”
As many who saw the footage that was quickly shown on social media, there was significant damage to the venue as a result of thousands of people who stormed the stadium with fake tickets and wanted to root for their favorite team regardless of having a valid or invalid ticket.
