Prominent Limerick city site comes on the market
A prominent building on O’Connell St in Limerick city, with planning permission for a mixed-use development, is for sale.
The site of the former Bank of Ireland Building on O’Connell Street has come onto the market this week.
94 O’Connell Street is described by Rooney Auctioneers as an exceptional property and a rare opportunity for developers.
Planning permission had been granted for a mixed-use development on the site.
Gordon Kearney of Rooney Auctioneers says the site offers “an appealing opportunity for developers to purchase a landmark mixed-use development in the heart of Limerick”.
“With planning permission already in place, the groundwork has been laid for a project of significance which will contribute to the city’s urban landscape”, Gordon Kearney said.
Existing planning allows for the creation of a new seven-storey residential and café block including studio units and a mix of apartments.
The Bank Building is planned to be home to three apartments on the upper levels with the existing commercial use at ground floor level being retained.
A gym and communal room will also be included at ground floor level.
Development highlights include planning permission has been secured for 24 high-quality apartments, designed to meet the ‘demands of contemporary urban living’. It’s hoped the units will cater to a diverse range of residences, including professionals, families and students.
The ground floor of the development will feature versatile commercial space, ideal for retail outlets, cafes or office use. The commercial component is set to attract various businesses, adding vibrancy and economic activity to the area.
The development also aims to blend modern architectural design with the historic charm of O’Connell St.
