RAF corporal becomes the first UKAF member to captain Cyprus in cricket

Corporal Scott Burdekin is the first member of the UK Armed Forces to captain Cyprus at cricket.

The Royal Air Force NCO is one of four UKAF personnel who are involved in the Cyprus National Cricket Team fixtures, with the other three having roles off the pitch.

Cpl Burdekin was born in Cyprus at a British military hospital.

Cyprus have already held T10 fixtures against Estonia as part of the European Cricket Network, and their six T20 fixtures have also come to an end, with Cyprus losing to Estonia 4-2.

The Cyprus team will next travel to Guernsey in August for the World Cup Qualifiers, ahead of the 2025 World Cup in Pakistan.
