Revealed: Faces of two young Dubliners up on criminal gang charges

David Callaghan (27) and Jordan Strickland (28) appeared before Dublin Circuit Court for an arraignment hearing.

While the arraignment on some of the charges was adjourned to next month, the court heard a trial is expected to last four weeks.

David Callaghan

Mr Callaghan, with an address at Harelawn Park in Clondalkin, is charged with directing the activities of a criminal organisation, both inside and outside the State, between April 29, 2021 and February 4, 2022.

His arraignment was adjourned until July.

Mr Strickland, of St Helen’s Gardens, Adamstown, is accused of knowingly by an act participating in or contributing to an activity of a criminal organisation, thereby enhancing the ability of the organisation to commit or facilitate a serious offence, namely drug trafficking and money laundering,

The offence allegedly took place on February 4, 2022.

It is alleged Mr Strickland possessed, acquired or handled €118,227 at AIB in Clondalkin between March 24, 2016, and February 6, 2019.

Mr Strickland is further accused of having benzocaine in his possession at his home on February 11, 2022, in circumstances giving rise to the inference it was connected to a drug-trafficking offence.

The court heard Mr Strickland was pleading not guilty to those charges and a trial date was set for November.

The two men were remanded on continuing bail and the court heard they were subject to a curfew between 11pm and 5am.

Jordan Strickland

At a previous court hearing the State solicitor said a book of evidence had been served on the two accused.

At that hearing, defence solicitor Wayne Kenny said there was no application for legal aid at that point.

Detective Garda Gavin Curran, from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, previously said gardai were seeking a full vouched statement of means, including details of income and property ownership.
