Roger McFarlane Set to Join Men’s Basketball Roster – Boston College Athletics
CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. — Roger McFarlane has committed to Boston College to complete his academic and athletic career as a member of the men’s basketball team, head coach Earl Grant announced. McFarlane arrives at BC as a grad transfer from Southeastern Louisiana and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
A 6-5, 205-pound guard, McFarlane averaged nearly 15.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game this past season at SLU. He registered 10 double-doubles in points and rebounds and averaged a near double-double in Southland Conference play, averaging 15.6 points and 9.8 boards. He was both a 2023-24 NABC All-District and Southland Conference honoree and was also recognized for his success in the classroom, earning a spot on the Southland Conference’s Spring Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
“Roger is a tough two-way player – a willing defender and consistent scorer,” Grant said. “His experience and leadership will really impact our program. He’s a proven scorer from all three levels – showing the ability to shoot the 3, making the mid-range shot, and finishing at the basket. We are excited to have him join our program!”
McFarlane reached double-digits in the scoring column on 27 occasions, including six games with 20 or more points. One of his best performances of the season came at Auburn, finishing with a season-high 24 points to go along with 11 boards. In 91 career games at SLU, McFarlane scored in double figures 51 times – 12 games with at least 20 points – and logged 16 double-doubles. He has connected on 123 3-pointers at a nearly 37% clip.
As a prep, McFarlane starred at the University School in Fort Lauderdale, teaming up with former BC football great Zay Flowers and 2022 NBA Rookie of the Year Scottie Barnes in the backcourt.
