There’s no better feeling than backing a Royal Ascot winner and short priced winners were far and few between last year.
However, this year there are a few runners that really stand out at a variety of odds that could be considered the ‘best bets’ of Royal Acot 2024.
Many of those chosen have scope to win with value to their price in their given races, while some are just that strong they remain a good price even as the shorter priced favourite.
Royal Ascot best bets
- Tuesday
2.30, Queen Anne Stakes: Charyn 7/2 (tipped at 6/1) - Wednesday
4.25, Prince Of Wales’s Stakes: White Birch 5/2 (tipped at 5/1) - Thursday
4.25, Gold Cup: Kyprios 1/1 - Friday
3.45, Coronation Stakes: Porta Fortuna 4/1
Charyn
Inspiral came close in the Queen Anne last year being denied by just a neck to Triple Time.
She went on to win three Group 1 races that year but two of those were fillies only, and she reappeared in May of this year with a poor fourth 13 lengths behind Audience.
Though she’s a tough mare to predict, she can often miss the odd training session with medical check ups yet still produce Group 1 winning runs consistently and it’s hard to rule her out.
That said, Charyn has been in incredible form this year and is seemingly better than ever now four-years-old and it’s tough to not back him each-way at this stage if the Queen Anne really is his race.
White Birch
Auguste Rodin reappeared in 2024 at Meydan in March but was disappointingly last of 12 behind Rebel’s Romance.
He did come back to form at the Curragh in late May in the Tattersalls Gold Cup but it was really White Birch who impressed the most who went on to go clear by three lengths of the Derby winner.
The four-year-old grey had hinted at being a great Group 1 horse as a three-year-old but has really turned a corner this season, winning a hattrick of races already.
To beat Auguste Rodin like he did means there’s probably more to come from this exciting colt by Ulysses.
Kyprios
One of the few shorter priced favourites of the week, especially at this early stage, Kyprios in the Group 1 Gold Cup over 2m4f.

The six-year-old trained by the master Aidan O’Brien has also confirmed his Group 1 ability, a long time ago and has won two decent level races with ease as the heavy odds-on favourite, seemingly to prepare him for a nice campaign including this huge race at Royal Ascot.
He beat Almacado Gree and ten other rivals over this exact distance at Lonchamp in the Qatar Prix du Cadran, by an astonishing 20 lengths.
The then five-year-old was favourite on his next two starts at the Curragh and Ascot, but just got beaten by Eldar Eldarov and Trawlerman respectively.
There’s scope for another big price winner in this but for now, it’s really Kypios’s to lose.
Porta Fortuna
I tipped this filly to win the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May and she was just denied by a neck to Elmalka at 11/1.
She’s now an 8/1 shot for this Group 1 and is very likable for her consistency.
She’s placed second on three occasions and won four times in just eight races under rules.
The filly made her three-year-old debut in that tough Group 1 and showed she had made significant progress for trainer Donnacha Aidan O’Brien.
She’s set to keep improving and has course form which can be vital here, as it’s such a tough track to win at.
Winning the Albany Stakes last year over 6f puts her in contention for the Commonwealth Cup instead too, but it’s clear they like this filly over a mile now.
She’s got the pace and course form, along with ideal pedigree to win well and is almost a safe each-way bet due to her consistency, lots of reasons to side with her.
