Claire and Eanna had a “wild” conversation about the best ways to deal with fruit flies during the summer months.

RTE One posted a clip of the pair over on their Instagram and wrote: “Is there anything Éanna Ní Lamhna doesn’t know – and where does @claireeby keep her fruit?! This interview was a wild ride.

“Summer is here, and so are the fruit flies. What’s the best way to keep them away?”

At the start of the video, Claire asked the environmental consultant: “Have you invested in a fly swatter?

“They’re a curse aren’t they, the fruit flies.”

Eanna replied: “They lay their eggs on fruit, then you go out to the real compost bin in the garden and lord save us and bless us you’d need a mosquito net on your head.”

Claire then left Eanna in shock as she revealed the bizarre place that she stores her fruit.

The mum-of-three said: “We have a drawer for the fruit and you open it and they come out and you just think ahhh.”

Eanna poked fun at Claire as she responded: “But why are you keeping your fruit in a drawer? For God’s sake, are you from Cavan?”

Claire said: “It’s just the way we do it – what are you supposed to do?”

Eanna then suggested: “Cover it – but I mean if you get a big glass bowl and turn it upside down, or those things, I don’t know what they’re called but they’re like first communion nets.

“Putting them in the drawer is no good because they’re bare and baldy inside the drawer and the things can get in and out of the drawer.”

She then added: “I don’t know about you but when you drink a glass of wine and leave it sitting there you might leave the table and when you come back there’s one in your glass of wine. I mean they’re very fond of alcohol.”

Claire replied: “This is really annoying.”

Eanna went on to say: “I mean their enemies are things like spiders and wasps and nobody has a good thing to say about either of them.”

Claire said: “Get a few spiders in the house to deal with the fruit flies.”

Eanna responded: “And frogs, frogs are good too.”

Claire added: “I’m not having a frog. I draw the line there.”

The presenter recently revealed the sweet traditions she shares with her two daughters.

The Laois native likes to keep her personal life relatively private.

Claire and her husband Gerry Scollan have three children together – one son, Patrick, born in 2013, and two daughters, Jane, born in 2014, and Emma, born in 2016.

RTE One recently posted a video of Claire answering some of her fans’ hard hitting questions.

When asked if she’s a Swiftie, which is a self-identifying term by Taylor Swift fans, the 48-year-old said: “I love Taylor Swift.
