RTE’s Maura reveals hilarious reaction after husband’s missing wedding ring saga
RTE star Maura Derrane has revealed her hilarious reaction after her husband’s missing wedding ring turned up in an unexpected location.
The Today host has been married to her husband John Deasy since 2005 and they have one child together, ten-year-old Cal.
The mum-of-one has been covering for Oliver Callan on RTE Radio One over the past week.
On the show, Maura told listeners how her husband lost his wedding ring.
The Galway native explained: “Nearly three years ago now, even more, John lost his wedding ring.
“We couldn’t find it anywhere in the house, we went through the bins, the usual stuff, pulling everything apart, under the bed, but it wasn’t found.”

After a year and a half without his ring, Maura decided he need to get a replacement and said she told him: “Look, I think we’ll just get another ring for you.
“I’ll have to put the ball and chain on you, you can’t be going around ringless, what would people think.”
The 53-year-old was about to buy the new band when her make-up artist Kate Noonan texted her a picture of the missing ring.
Maura was in work at the time and was puzzled at first as she explained: “It was John’s ring, I was thinking, ‘How could she have John’s ring, is she having a fling with my husband, is this how she’s sharing this with me right now?‘.”
She added: “No no, of course not — Kate, if you’re listening, I know it’s not.”
It turned out that Maura had given her son’s car seat to Kate and when Kate took the seat out to wash it, she found the ring.
Earlier this week, Maura suffered a nasty fall just before heading out to host the radio show.
In a clip posted to her Instagram, the 53-year-old held up her arm brace and said: “I am here in the VHI Swift Care clinic in Carrickmines. I have a broken paw.”
The mum-of-one explained how she took a tumble in her house and fell on to her wrist.
Whilst in pain Maura managed to get in her car and drive down to the RTE radio station where she put an ice pack on it and took some painkillers.
The popular presenter continued to host the radio show but told followers that the pain was “really bad”.
She said: “Afterwards, I thought that I probably need to go and sort it out, especially since I am due to go away on Thursday.”
Maura told fans that the results revealed that she had two fractures in her wrist, one being her scaphoid.

She sadly remarked: “So, it looks like I’ll be going nowhere this week.”
She highlighted that it “goes to show just how easy it can be” as she added “it was the simplest fall”.
