Rutgers Basketball: Scarlet Knights offer No. 1 prospect AJ Dybantsa

Rutgers is preparing to welcome its best recruiting class in program history in 2024. Now, Steve Pikiell continues to recruit the biggest players in the nation.

On Wednesday night, top-ranked recruit in the Class of 2025 AJ Dybantsa shared that he received and offer from the Scarlet Knights.

Dybantsa, originally a Class of 2026 prospect, reclassified to 2025 and remained the No. 1 prospect, according to ESPN. The 6-foot-8 small forward began his high school career at Prolific Prep and was teammates of the No. 1 player in the Class of 2026 Tyran Stokes. He recently transferred to Utah Prep and will play his final season before making a decision.

Rutgers becomes the latest school to offer Dybantsa, who holds over 20 offers from Power Five schools. This includes UConn, Duke, Houston, North Carolina, Kansas, and Kentucky. According to reports, Dybantsa has taken official visits to USC and Auburn. The Wildcats remain high on Dybantsa but he has become a major target for Arkansas since John Calipari took over as head coach. It is no surprise that all elite programs around the nation are interested in Dybantsa, who is the perfect blend of size, speed, and athleticism.

The Scarlet Knights will welcome a class that is headlined by Dylan Harper and Ace Bailey. The question remains, can Pikiell and Rutgers continue to recruit at a high level to build off this class? The answer is yet to be seen but it is clear that the Scarlet Knights continue to be in the mix for some of the best players in the nation moving forward.
