Ruth ‘orchestrated’ split with Eamonn as ‘he refused to sign off on statement’
EAMONN Holmes has reportedly refused to sign off on a joint statement regarding the end of his marriage to Ruth Langsford.
The pair shocked their legions of fans when it was confirmed on Saturday they had called time on their 27-year relationship.
The couple, who have been married for 14 years, have since refused to discuss the issue further, with Eamonn posting about the FA Cup final online while Ruth spent time with her mother, Joan.
But according to new reports from Daily Mail, Ruth ‘orchestrated’ the break-up, with Eamonn devastated by the split.
It’s believed Ruth was the one who OK’ed the simple statement, with Eamonn wanting no part in it, refusing to sign off.
The site claims Eamonn ‘told friends he didn’t want to get involved’ and ‘Ruth could do what she wants but keep him out of it’.
The statement eventually simply read: “Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes have confirmed their marriage is over and they are in the process of divorcing.”
While sources have said they are ‘dedicated to making the split amicable’, Eamonn has already left the family home for a property nearby.
The couple have one son together, 22-year-old Jack.
It was initially believed Ruth would take this week off from Loose Women in light of the news, and Eamonn was expected to appear on GB News today to address the issue.
However, he was instead replaced on the morning line-up, with Nana Akua and Micahel Portillo stepping in for Eamonn and Isabel Webster.
The once-strong couple, who were also a presenting duo on This Morning until 2020, are believed to have grown apart as their careers went in different directions.
Sources said the added pressure of Eamonn’s long-standing back issues also began to take their toll.
Ruth had recently been helping nurse her husband back to good health following a medical scare and fall which resulted in him spending time in hospital.
Although the pair hadn’t been seen together for over two years, Ruth last week shared a health update on Eamonn in a magazine interview.
Days ago the 64-year-old Loose Women host updated fans by saying: “I look at Eamonn, who’s had his health and back problems, and it makes you realise how important your health is.
“I don’t know how much Eamonn’s mobility will improve. We live in hope.
“He does the physio, but there might have to be some acceptance that this might never be 100 percent right.”
