Sabrina Carpenter has made a rare comment about her relationship with Irish actor, Barry Keoghan.

The Espresso singer and the Dublin-born actor made their first public appearance together at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty earlier this year. Although they never officially confirmed they were an item, the onscreen chemistry was undeniable when Keoghan starred in Carpenter’s music video for her new song, Please Please Please.

Since then, the two have quickly become one of the most talked about celebrity pairs, although it’s clear they like to keep things as private as possible.

In a new interview, however, Sabrina made a rare comment about her relationship, revealing that she is in ‘love’ for the first time.

Speaking to Vanity Fair about navigating a relationship in the public eye, the singer says “I don’t think that there’s ever a how-to book on any of this stuff. It’s a lot of what I’m writing about, and it’s a lot of what inspires me. It’s my diary.”

She goes on to reveal that she is in love for the first time, but how that makes its way into her music is open for interpretation. She says “Once I put it out there, it’s for other people to interpret. I try to not tell people what a song is explicitly about. People don’t always know what’s going on inside the minds of anyone, let alone a young girl who’s navigating love and a lot of things for the first time.”

Sabrina also spoke about her racy outros, which she has become famous for at her shows.

One of the most memorable happened during her final Coachella performance, where she referred to Keoghan.

She sang “Made his knees so weak, he had to spread mine / He’s drinkin’ my bathwater like it’s red wine.” This, of course, is a reference to Keoghan’s film, Saltburn.

During the interview, she was asked if she warned her boyfriend about the lyrics beforehand. She laughed “Oh my gosh, no. Maybe I should do that. I guess it’s a little too late now.”
