Samsung SEAO Executive Byline Series: Democratizing AI for All in SEAO

Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant concept – this technology is already transforming the way we live, work, and connect with one another, through our smartphones, TVs, and various household appliances. With billions of connected devices in use around the world, AI can unlock personalized, impactful experiences that make life better and simpler.

At Samsung, we’re harnessing advancements in AI to make life better for all – by ensuring our AI technologies enable new possibilities, help usher in technological innovations, and make life more inclusive, sustainable and accessible on a whole. Our latest Samsung Galaxy devices are at the forefront of this revolution, leveraging the power of mobile AI to empower users in their daily lives, and to open new possibilities in enhancing everyday creativity, communication, and convenience.

The Power of Mobile AI in Transforming Everyday Lives

Today, we can communicate effortlessly across language barriers. With Live Translate[1], powered by AI, having deeper and real-time conversations with friends, family, and colleagues around the world has become seamless. Looking for a touch of inspiration? Generative Edit[2] empowers you to transform your photos with ease, changing backgrounds, removing distractions, and perfecting your images with a simple tap. Seeking more streamlined convenience? Circle to Search[3] with Google allows you to search anything on your Galaxy phone with Google without the need to switch to another app – whether it’s a breathtaking landmark from an old photo, or a cute top worn by your favorite entertainer in a video on YouTube.

Expanding Galaxy AI Capabilities to Many More Galaxy Devices

At Samsung, we are committed to continue creating transformative user experiences with Galaxy AI[4], as well as to democratize this technology and bring the power of AI to as many people as possible across the Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) region.

With the new One UI 6.1 update, we are bringing Galaxy AI to even more devices, expanding the premium mobile AI experiences initially introduced on the latest Galaxy S24 series, and making them available to several generations of Galaxy devices. These include the Galaxy S23 and S22 series, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Flip4, Galaxy Tab S9 and Galaxy Tab S8 series.

This move puts several popular Galaxy AI features into the hands of more users around the world, including Circle to Search with Google, Chat Assist[5], Interpreter, Live Translate, Note Assist[6], Transcript Assist[7], Browsing Assist, Generative Edit, Edit Suggestion[8] and AI-Generated Wallpaper[9].

Accelerating Updates to Galaxy AI to Support More Languages

Beyond just making features available across generational hardware, we want more users to benefit from Galaxy AI. In Southeast Asia and Oceania, users who have Galaxy AI on their devices and speak Bahasa Indonesia, Australia English and Cantonese will be able to download these newly supported Galaxy AI languages and dialects, and experience its communication-enhancing benefits. This is in addition to languages, such as English, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese, that are already supported in Galaxy AI.

This ensures that even more Galaxy users can leverage on features like Live Translate’s communication-enhancing capabilities to communicate more effectively and efficiently with the world at large, and on a global scale like never before.

Enticing New Users to Explore Galaxy AI

Test Galaxy AI features on the Try Galaxy App

Users today might be intrigued by the possibilities of Galaxy AI, but stop short of making the switch to a Galaxy device. Now, discovering and experiencing these features comes first-hand without having to change phones. Designed for non-Galaxy users, the Try Galaxy App[10] grants access to Live Translate, Chat Assist, Note Assist, Photo Assist, and Circle to Search with Google on any Android devices, including older Galaxy models. This allows any users who are curious about Galaxy AI to try out for themselves the new possibilities that come with Galaxy AI before taking the leap.

At the same time, the Try Galaxy app lets potential Galaxy users learn more about the Galaxy ecosystem by swiping through informative cards introducing features such as seamless multi-device connectivity, file-sharing capabilities, and body composition data available through Samsung Health.

For those keen on exploring foldable experiences, users can also watch introductory videos highlighting the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 on the app.

The Future is Mobile AI

We are highly optimistic about the potential of AI and mobile coming together to revolutionize our everyday lives. It is this unwavering belief that is driving our goal to bring the Galaxy AI experience to over one hundred million users in 2024.

In this new era of mobile intelligence, the smartphone has transcended mere communication, and has become the catalyst for creativity, connection, and unprecedented possibility. We have no doubt at all that the future belongs to mobile AI, and with Samsung Galaxy devices at the forefront, we cannot wait to see what users throughout Southeast Asia and Oceania will dream up, create, and achieve with the extraordinary power of Galaxy AI at their fingertips.
