Santa Anita: Nothing Like You leads field of 4 in Summertime Oaks
After a smashing win in the Grade 2 Santa Anita Oaks, Nothing Like You looks to continue her winning ways in the $200,000 Summertime Oaks (G2) going 1 1/16 miles Saturday at Santa Anita.
In the April 6 Santa Anita Oaks, also at 1 1/16 miles, Nothing Like You ran away from more fancied stablemate Kinza to win by 7 1/2 lengths. It was the third stakes win for Nothing Like You, who as a 2-year-old won the seven-furlong Desi Arnaz at Del Mar and Starlet (G2) at Los Alamitos in December.
Trained by Bob Baffert, Nothing Like You is 8: 4-1-0 with $423,160. The Malibu Moon filly, who was a $190,000 auction buy last year, is owned by Georgia Antley Hunt, Jeff Giglio and John L. Rogitz. She will be ridden by Juan Hernandez.
Jane Austen is 2-for-2 entering her stakes debut. Trained by Mark Glatt, Jane Austen earned her diploma going seven furlongs April 21 at Santa Anita and came right back to win a first-level allowance when stretched to a mile May 18 at Santa Anita.
By Tapit, Jane Austen was a $750,000 auction buy last year by owner Muir Hut Stable. She will have regular rider Antonio Fresu in the irons.
Show Card, a Juddmonte homebred, stretches out for Baffert after consecutive wins sprinting. The Into Mischief filly graduated going six furlongs in her third start March 16 at Santa Anita and returned with a front-running win in a first-level allowance going six furlongs May 5.
Show Card, who had been ridden by Hernandez in all four previous starts, will have Mike Smith aboard.
Sugar Fish also comes off a first-level allowance win for trainer Jeff Mullins. She scored going by a head at odds-on when going a mile April 26 at Santa Anita. A $40,000 auction buy, the Accelerate filly is 5: 2-1-0 with $69,540 in earnings for owners Sweetwater Stable and Talla Racing. She will have Tyler Baze aboard.
