Saturday Horse Racing Tips & Best Bets [July 13, 2024]

Check out our tips and best bets for Saturday’s racing at Caulfield, Randwick, Doomben, Belmont and Murray Bridge on July 13, 2024.

BEST BETS

Caulfield Race 8 No.3 Mornington Glory

There looks to be strong speed in this, which should benefit Mornington Glory (3) who maps to stalk the leaders from barrier four. Bedggood really got him firing last prep and his trials would suggest he certainly hasn’t gone backwards over the break.

Beau Mertens (58.5kg)
Gavin Bedggood
5yoG (br) Shalaa x Crowned Glory

Randwick Race 5 No.2 Don Diego De Vega

Classy import Don Diego De Vega (2) had his first run in over a year when making his Australian debut late last month and ran super behind Bear On The Loose – a horse that’s high in markets for some spring Group 1s. Lightly raced galloper that had some serious form as a three-year-old, finishing third behind arguably the best horse in the world in Ace Impact. Will only improve off his first-up run.

Jason Collett (61kg)
Annabel Neasham
4yoG (gr) Lope De Vega x Fairly Fair

Doomben Race 8 No.15 Madame Odette

The bigger track helps Madame Odette (15) which couldn’t run down Cocobrew Express at Ipswich last start. She drops 3kg, her best efforts come third-up and while she will go back from the wide gate, Damien Thornton can round them up.

Damien Thornton (54.5kg)
Tony Gollan
4yoM (b) Churchill x Cloudwatch

BEST VALUE

Caulfield Race 6 No.3 Prince Of Helena

Prince Of Helena (3) is going well and will find this easier than his last couple where he’s been beaten 1.6L and 1.5L by Munhamek. Edgley’s claim means he’s well-weighted here and hopefully she gives him every chance from barrier five.

Hannah Edgley (59kg)
Craig Weeding
7yoG (b) Sidestep x Lady Of Helena

Randwick Race 2 No.8 Cinematic Star

Cinematic Star (8) clashed with the favourite In Flight (1) at his last start. Made her run with that horse and looked to be travelling as good, if not better, before being shut out in the concluding stages by One Destiny and Wild Botanica. It’s a super form race and now meets In Flight (1) much better at the weights.

Chad Schofield (55kg)
Ciaron Maher
3yoF (b) Grunt x Cinematic

Doomben Race 5 No.3 Kipling’s Journey

Wins have been hard to come by but Kipling’s Journey (3) has always shown promise of better things. He only faded late when doing the chasing behind Cocobrew Express at Ipswich and will appreciate Tahlia Fenlon’s 3kg claim. His recent efforts have been consistent, this trip suits and with a positive ride he can break through.

Tahlia Fenlon (60.5kg)
P & W Hulbert
5yoG (bay/brown) Zoustar x Mrs Kipling
