Scottish Aldi shops among list of 33 branches to undergo upgrades this summer

Two Aldi stores based in Scotland are set to undergo a series of major refurbishments as part of a multi-million pound investment.

The supermarket chain has revealed that the stores, based in Dumfries and Annan, will be getting a new look for summer. It is just one of more than 30 stores revealed to be undergoing a major revamp over the coming months.

It comes after the budget grocer invested more than £90 million on store improvements throughout 2024. Over 100 stores across the UK will be getting upgrades, with most work set to take place in June, July and August.

Although the changes will vary at store level, some upgrades will include increase shopping space, upgraded signage and redesigned store layouts. Aldi has also said it will ensure stores have more sustainable features through energy efficient technology.

Jonathan Neale, Managing Director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “Aldi attracted more new customers than any other grocery retailer in the last 12 months, and we want to continue to offer the best possible in-store experience for our shoppers.

“We’re committed to making sure that the shopping experience is on a par with the high-quality products and service we offer. Finding ways to reduce any environmental impact as we continue to grow our store estate across the country is also a vital part of these changes.”
