Seacoast tourney roundup: Portsmouth baseball upsets No. 6 Goffstown; WHS tennis falls
GOFFSTOWN – The No. 11 Portsmouth High School baseball team advanced to the quarterfinal round for the 18th straight year with a 12-2 upset win over sixth-seeded Goffstown on Friday in a Division I first-round game at Saint Anselm College.
“It’s a good win, we put together a pretty solid, all-around game,” Portsmouth head coach Tim Hopley said.
Portsmouth’s Jake Carlisle went seven innings, allowed two runs on five hits, and struck out five. He also had three hits, including two doubles, two RBIs and scored three runs.

“Jake was really good on the mound, we didn’t make an error and we had 15 hits,” Hopley said. “It was a good time to play a really good game. We know we’re going to have to take it a step further (Saturday) heading up against the defending state champions.”
Portsmouth (11-9) will face No. 3 Londonderry on Saturday at 2 p.m. The Lancers advanced with a 9-0 win over No. 14 Windham.

Portsmouth’s Zavier Lampert had three hits and two RBIs, while Joe Zingariello (two runs, two RBIs), Devin Driscoll (two RBIs) and Tucker Huskey all had two hits, and Gar Hindle (two runs, RBI, two walks) had one.

HUDSON – Greyson Belliveau (No. 4, 9-8) and Drew Berry (No. 6, 9-8) won their respective singles matches for Winnacunnet in the Division II state championship match at Alvirne High School.
It was the second straight Division II championship, and the third in the last four years for Lebanon.
Winnacunnet, which upset the Nos. 3 and 2 seeds in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, finished its season at 11-6.
