SAINT BIBIANA (2.35 Cartmel, nap)
She heads to Cumbria in fine form after really improving since going into handicaps. Georgina Nicholls’ seven-year-old kicked off with a couple of good placed efforts before making the breakthrough with a cosy success at Stratford last month. That form was matched with another convincing victory, this time at Newton Abbot 25 days ago where she crossed her hurdles well and had plenty left at the line. She takes on the boys today but stays every yard of this trip and a 4lb rise for her most recent victory looks fair enough.
NOT NOW NATHANIEL (1.30 Cartmel, nb)
She was good enough to hold her own in the Grade 2 mares’ bumper at Aintree and has really taken to hurdles. She kicked off with a 19-length success back on the Mildmay course before more than matching that form when giving a big field at Bangor a hiding. The official margin was nine-and-a-half lengths but it could have been a lot further. He can strike again for Donald McCain and Brian Hughes.
FIDELIUS (1.35 Wolverhampton, treble)
He won with plenty in hand the last time he ran on the all-weather. He wasn’t far off the pace back on turf at Windsor last time despite trouble in running and looks open to plenty of improvement from his fair handicap mark.
MOSTLY SUNNY (4.45 Uttoxeter)
He was useful on the Flat and has a second and two wins over hurdles since joining the Skeltons. He was brilliant on his handicap debut at Southwell last time, putting 14 lengths between him and the field. The handicapper has shunted him up 11lb for that effort but there looks to be plenty more to come.
