Search operation under way in Kerry for missing hiker

A search operation is under way after a hillwalker failed to return from a weekend hike on Cnoc Bréanainn (Mount Brandon) in Daingean Uí Chúis (Dingle) in Co Kerry.

Sebastian Jaworski, aged 46, was last seen near the summit of Cnoc Bréanainn on Sunday at around 3:30pm.

On Tuesday, Kerry Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT) was tasked with a search operation for the hiker.

KMRT said the search has been ongoing with help from Search and Rescue Dogs Association (SARDA), Dingle Coast Guard, and the Coast Guard helicopter R115.

Extensive ground and air searches have been carried out but Mr Jaworski has yet to be located.

Weather and visibility have deteriorated considerably in the last 36 hours making for difficult search conditions, according to KMRT.

They are appealing for anyone who may have seen the man on the hill or around the general Cé Bhréanainn (Brandon) area from Sunday afternoon onwards to contact Dingle Garda Station.

The search operation is expected to continue over the weekend.
