Second big crisp recall due to bits of golf balls in ALDI packets
A second popular brand of crisps has been hit by a nationwide recall notice – following the first alert about packets of Taytos that were found to have contained bits of golf balls.
The first recall from the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) was around Tayto crisps that were found to have rubber pieces – possibly bits of golf balls that had been caught up in the harvesting of potatoes – in the packets. And you can get full details on which batches are being recalled here.
Now a second brand – an ALDI value brand of crisps – has been hit by a similar recall, suggesting that the same batch of potatoes were used for both brands.
The recall is for Spuddy’s Cheese and Onion Flavour Irish Crisps
- And the batch is:
- (6 x 25g pack); Spuddy’s Irish Potato Crisps assorted flavours (24 x 25g pack)
- Best Before Date 26/07/20924
The FSAI has said: “The above batches of Spuddy’s Irish Crisps are being recalled due to the possible presence of rubber pieces. Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale in Aldi stores.
“Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display a recall notice at point-of-sale. Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.”
