A West Midlands Police spokesperson said this afternoon: “We’re aware of a demonstration that is due to take place on Erdington High Street this weekend, and have been in touch with the organisers to understand their plans. “Our investigation into the violent disorder and racially aggravated assaults is progressing well, and five people who have been arrested remain on bail while we continue to gather evidence. We know the attack has caused real concern locally, and we are in touch with community representatives to listen to them and update them.
“Our officers have been liaising with the community to listen to their concerns, and that dialogue will continue.”
