Sheffield United ‘threat’ emerges in Leeds United move for Bogle
Leeds United want to sign Sheffield United’s Jayden Bogle
Beren Cross has highlighted the “threat” that could force Sheffield United into selling Jayden Bogle to Leeds United this summer.
Writing for Leeds Live [July 14], the journalist reported that with only one senior right-back available, Bogle is an attractive target ahead of his Bramall Lane contract expiring next summer.
Given his contract situation, the Whites hope that the Blades may be pushed into negotiating a transfer for the defender.
Cross wrote: “With Bogle’s contract expiring next June, he will walk away for free next summer unless he is sold or agrees to fresh terms.
“Leeds will hope that threat makes the Blades more willing to secure a seven-figure fee by negotiating with them, but the prospect of directly strengthening what could be a promotion rival is not lost on anyone.”
Is Jayden Bogle likely to join Leeds United?
Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder has firmly warned that the Blades won’t be pushed around in the transfer market [The Star, July 13].
Bogle, with only a year left on his contract, is in a tricky spot because Sheffield United could lose him for free next summer.
However, they might secure some compensation, much like they did with Daniel Jebbison’s transfer to Bournemouth.
Wilder’s recent comments suggest that while the Blades are not eager to sell, every player has a price.
Leeds’ need for a right-back and Bogle’s contract situation make this a possibility, but Wilder’s focus on retaining key players suggests any deal would have to be highly favourable for Sheffield United.
So, while Leeds’ interest is real, Wilder’s stance makes this potential transfer far from straightforward.
