Shocking moment Wayne Lineker is ‘knocked out cold’ by punch during night out in Ibiza
Wayne Lineker was reportedly knocked unconscious during a shocking incident on a night out in Ibiza.
The brother of England legend Gary Lineker collapsed in the street after being punched by a man during an altercation on the Spanish island in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Video circulating on social media shows Lineker stepping out of a car before being confronted by a group of men.
The 62-year-old is seen holding his arm up to protect himself while exchanging words with one of the men.
But he is then floored by a single punch, appearing to hit his head on the floor after collapsing.
The clip then ends with Lineker still prone on the floor, surrounded by concerned bystanders.
The Sun report that Lineker was ‘out cold for at least six minutes’ and ‘had blood pouring from his mouth’ after the shocking incident.
A witness told The Sun that Lineker and the man had started arguing after he and his friends ‘began pestering’ a female acquaintance of Lineker.
It is claimed the group fled the scene after the incident.
A student who witnessed the punch told The Sun: “It was horrible – he looked like he could have been dead at one point.
“Wayne just fell on the floor and the man and his friends ran off. He was completely unconscious.
“He wasn’t really speaking much when he did eventually come back round.
“I stayed to help him and the police turned up but they weren’t there for long and didn’t really do much and left quickly.”
Lineker is reported to have eventually left in a taxi around an hour after the punch was thrown.
On Tuesday, Wayne posted a video to his Instagram of himself clinking wine glasses with a female friend, captioning it: “Bunny’s back.”
Lineker is well-known for hosting celebrities including footballers at his club in Ibiza, Ocean Beach.
Manchester City and England star Jack Grealish is among those to have attended events at Lineker’s.
Lineker jokingly offered Grealish a ‘four-week loan deal’ to work at his establishment over the summer, after the City star was left out of England’s Euro 2024 squad.
Lineker has since published a number of posts on his Instagram after the violent incident, including a birthday message to his son Freddie.
However, he is yet to issue an update on his condition or address the altercation.
SPORTbible has contacted Lineker for comment.
