Shopping centre evacuated after fire breaks out

A Cheltenham shopping centre has been evacuated after a vehicle fire sent plumes of black smoke billowing out from the attached multi-storey car park.

Two fire engines rushed to the scene, while a spokesperson for the shopping mall confirmed that the building’s “evacuation procedure” had been implemented.

They also clarified that the fourth fire engine, from Gloucester, mentioned in their earlier statement, was actually dispatched to check a nearby property where smoke was seen – but that element was a false alarm.
