South Dublin boozer celebrates ‘last orders’ before closing over weekend
A south Dublin pub celebrated their “last orders” before closing their doors over the weekend.
The Kestrel Inn at the Walkinstown Roundabout shut its doors in its current guise for the last time on Friday. The building is set to be redeveloped into 42 apartments after a lengthy battle to get planning permission.
The proposed development on the site also includes a new pub and three new retail units. The plans were first mooted in 2021, but various delays and objections occurred relating to car and bike parking and the amount of apartments included.

The pub had its going away party on Friday night. And they posted a picture of their last night on social media with the caption: “Last order from the Kestrel Inn.”
They then posted a picture of the outside of the pub on Saturday with the simple caption: “Closed.”
