Spain captain Alvaro Morata appears to suffer freak injury caused by ‘security guard’ after reaching Euro 2024 final

Alvaro Morata was injured by the cameraman after captaining Spain to the Euro 2024 final.

Spain could be without their captain Alvaro Morata for the Euro 2024 final after he was injured by what appeared to be a security guard.

La Roja came from behind to beat France in the semi final at the Allianz Arena, with Lamine Yamal and Dani Olmo delivering fine efforts after Randal Kolo Muani opened the scoring.

Even with notable absentees like Pedri, Dani Carvajal and Robin Le Normand Luis de la Fuente’s side made it six wins out of six and now have the chance to win a fourth Euros tournament in Berlin on Sunday.

But there was a dampener for Spain in the post-match celebrations. During the jubilant scenes behind the goal with the fans, a supporter managed to gain access to the pitch and join Spain’s players.

And as a security guard rushed over to try and apprehend the individual, he slipped and completely took out skipper Morata.

The former Chelsea striker was in immediate discomfort and limped his way through a guard of honour formed.

He was spoken to by many of his teammates but Morata was evidently upset and clearly feared missing out on the biggest game of his international career.

Going off the footage which emerged from the BBC, it appears as though Morata may have suffered an injury to his knee during the accidental collision.

The 31-year-old was named Spain’s permanent captain last year. He has been capped 79 times for his country, scoring 36 goals.

He has started every game bar one in Germany – that being the final group game with Albania where Joselu got the nod.

The former Stoke City and Newcastle striker, who came up with Champions League semi final heroics for Real Madrid, would appear to be the obvious choice to replace Morata if he is not fit for selection.
