Spain travel warning as people told to carry ‘essential’ document
Millions of people planning to visit Spain have been hit with a warning ahead of a busy summer for international travel. Spain is a hugely popular destination for UK travellers, with plenty of people gearing up to visit its resorts, cities and beaches.
In fact, experts at travel insurance provider AllClear state it is the second-most visited nation in the world. Its high volume of tourists and other visitors is one reason why Spain is the country with the most travel insurance claims.
Unexpected medical emergencies that lead to travel insurance claims in Spain are most commonly due to respiratory issues, fractures, or other injuries. Letitia Smith from AllClear is now warning people that it is “essential” they obtain a travel insurance document.
Mr Smith said: “Travelling opens up a world of adventure, but in order to travel responsibly while enjoying your trip to its fullest, it’s essential to make sure you are covered, particularly if you are travelling with medical conditions. By sharing these insights, we hope that it helps give travellers more guidance on choosing the correct policy for them that will allow them to explore the world with confidence.”
Greece, another destination hugely popular with people from the UK, came second when it came to the most travel insurance claims. These were most commonly due to injuries, fractures, and respiratory complaints, in that order.
And Cyprus finished the top three, with claims made in the country largely due to respiratory issues, injuries, and ear, nose, and throat complains. Turkey and the USA completed the top five countries.
