Kingsbarns got the highest Brisnet Speed Rating, 102, among last week’s stakes winners for his victory in the Grade 1 Stephen Foster at Churchill Downs on Saturday.

Sent off as the fourth choice in the nine-horse field, the 4-year-old Uncle Mo colt and jockey Luis Saez drove clear in the stretch of the 1 1/8-mile race to win by 2 1/2 lengths for trainer Todd Pletcher. Kingsbarns also earned a 100 Beyer Speed Figure for the performance.

The stakes winner with the highest Beyer was Filo di Arianna, the 8-year-old gelding who won the Highlander (G2) at Woodbine for trainer Mark Casse. Going six furlongs on turf, Kazushi Kimura pulled away for a 2 1/4-length win. Filo di Arianna got a 96 Brisnet for his effort.

But the runner with the highest speed figures last week wasn’t in a stakes. That distinction went to Subrogate, a 4-year-old son of Arrogate who won an optional-claiming allowance at the Belmont at the Big A meet Saturday. He earned a 104 Brisnet rating and a 104 Beyer.

With Jose Lezcano riding for trainer Jorge Duarte Jr., Subrogate won the 6 1/2-furlong dirt race by six lengths. The win brings his record to 3-for-3 on the year and 7:4-1-0 overall. Subrogate didn’t race as a juvenile.

Here are the figures for last week’s highest-rated stakes winners, ranked by Brisnet Speed Ratings, with Beyer Speed Figures from Daily Racing Form where available.
