Stephen Kenny reacts to links with Lincoln City midfielder Danny Mandroiu
Stephen Kenny has reacted to reports that he is interested in signing former Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers attacking midfielder Danny Mandroiu.
The new St Patrick’s Athletic manager has been linked with the 25-year-old, who looks set to exit Lincoln City this summer.
Contract negotiations between the player and his club have collapsed and Imps boss Michael Skubala has admitted that the Dubliner is unlikely to feature for the side again.

Mandroiu, who has scored 14 goals in 56 appearances since his move from Shamrock Rovers two years ago, has been reportedly targeted by Kenny.
But reacting on Thursday to questions about the player, the Saints boss said: “I’ve known Danny for a while. Obviously I had him in the Under-21 international team and I called him up to the senior squad for a training camp.
“I’ve not spoken to him recently, but my feeling is that he would most likely have options in England, and that would be his most likely destination, I would feel.”
Asked if Mandroiu would be good enough to play in the Championship, Kenny replied: “He’s a good player, he is certainly a good player.”
Speaking this week about Mandroiu and teammate Teddy Bishop, Skubala said: “I’ll never say never, because the door isn’t closed on anybody in that situation, but let’s be fair, it’s probably unlikely to see them in a Lincoln shirt again.
“Teddy and Danny were fantastic for me, they are fantastic footballer. But even when you want to keep them you can’t always keep them and there comes a point where negotiations break down, because it doesn’t matter who you are there is a structure in the club that the club can’t break, even for me.
“No-one is bigger than the club and and eventually that [contract talks] might have broken down.”
