STORY SO FAR: Total of 40 seats filled in Tipperary Local Elections – here’s the latest

40 seats have now been for the Tipperary Local Elections 2024.

Elected at the Count Centre in Thurles on Sunday, Labour’s Michael “Chicken” Brennan in Carrick, Fine Gael’s John Fitzgerald in Clonmel, Fianna Fáil’s Kay Cahill Skehan in Thurles, Ryan O’Meara of Fianna Fáil in Nenagh and John Carroll of Fianna Fáil in Newport and now Kieran Bourke of Fianna Fáil in the Carrick LEA, and Eddie Moran of Roscrea-Templemore for Team Lowry, Seamus Morris (Independent) and Louise Morgan Walsh (Labour) – both of whom took the final two seats in Nenagh. 

Mark Fitzgerald of Fine Gael filled the fifth seat in the Carrick-on-Suir LEA on Sunday afternoon. 

Peggy Ryan of Fine Gael took the fifth seat in the Thurles LEA at around 3pm on Sunday. 

Incumbent Cllr Marie Murphy for the Cahir LEA was declared elected following the distribution of the voters of eliminated candidate Alan Moynihan, Social Democrats. She received 28 votes in that distribution to give her a total of 1,456. The quota is 1,437.

William Kennedy has been elected in Roscrea-Templemore on the sixth count.

On the final count Niall Dennehy was elected to the Clonmel LEA without reaching the quota.

Richie Molloy was elected on the fifth count in the Clonmel LEA, followed shortly after by Micheál Anglim taking the final Cahir LEA seat.

Roger Kennedy becomes the fourth candidate elected from the Cashel-Tipperary LEA, with Mary Hanna Hourigan becoming the fifth. The second last seat was taken by John Crosse. The final seat was claimed by Annemarie Ryan (Shiner) at the expense of her running mate Tony Black who has not been re-elected.
