And he was awesome in capturing the Group 1 Commonwealth Cup at last month’s Royal meeting.

Inisherin was 10-1 for the July Cup prior to that win and his price but his price was slashed on the back of it.

The three-year-old colt was one of 13 left in the race at the final entry stage before declarations are made on Thursday.

Coral’s Lewis Knowles said: “It’s easy to forget that Inisherin’s stunning performance in last month’s Commonwealth Cup was only his fifth racecourse start, and it would appear Kevin Ryan has a real superstar on his hands to go to war with in the sprinting division.

“He’s now 15-8 for Saturday’s July Cup at Newmarket, and he could take some stopping en route to another Group 1 success this weekend.”

Vandeek was put in his place by Inisherin when the pair last met.

But the former is 5-1 second-favourite for trainer Simon and Ed Crisford after he was forced to miss Royal Ascot due to a low blood count.
