Suspicious device in Dublin city found to be ‘a hoax’ after examination, gardaí say
A suspicious device discovered in Fairview, north Dublin on Thursday evening has been found to be a hoax, gardaí have said.
The Defence Forces Explosive Ordnance Disposal (DFEOD) unit and gardaí were deployed to the Fairview Strand area, close to the junction with Philipsburgh Avenue, following the discovery of a suspicious device outside a house shortly after 4pm.
Road closures were put in place between Fairview Strand and Richmond Road, as well as between Fairview Strand and Phillipsburgh Avenue while the 123 bus route was unable to serve Marino.
Gardaí said on Thursday night that following examination by the DFEOD unit the device was determined to be “a hoax”.
“The traffic restrictions have now been lifted, and investigations are ongoing,” gardaí added.
