Tailteann Cup semi-final line-up confirmed
Down will face Sligo and Antrim will meet the winners of tomorrow’s Tailteann Cup quarter-final between Kildare and Laois with a draw not necessary after Saturday’s results.
Repeat pairings are avoided where possible and with Down and Antrim meeting in Ulster and the Saffrons also facing Sligo earlier in the Tailteann Cup, it means Andy McEntee’s side are automatically paired with the winners of Sunday’s Leinster derby.
Antrim qualified for the last four courtesy of a stunning comeback against Fermanagh while Conor Laverty’s Down will be out to dump out another former Armagh player in the form of Tony McEntee having gotten the better of Oisín McConville’s Wicklow.
Sligo, meanwhile, were comfortable 2-20 to 0-09 victors against Limerick.
A special Central Council meeting is set to be held on Sunday to discuss Wexford’s request to stage their All-Ireland SHC quarter-final with Clare on Sunday, having initially been set for a double-header with Cork and Dublin for Thurles on Saturday. The Model County are hosting Féile na nGael on Saturday.
If approved, it is likely the Thurles double-header will move to Sunday, and the Tailteann Cup semis may be moved to Saturday at Croke Park.
