Tánaiste has called for discussions to avoid travel disruption this summer | www.redfm.ie

The Tánaiste says Aer Lingus passengers are facing unacceptable level of stress and anxiety and has called for discussions to avoid travel disruption this summer.

Pilots at the airline who are members of IALPA will begin an indefinite work-to-rule on Wednesday in a row over pay.

They say a demand for almost 24 per cent over three years is reasonable and in line with what British Airways pilots are paid.

Speaking to RedFM news, Tánaiste Micheál Martin gave his thoughts on the dispute:

“It’s unacceptable, in my view, that the industrial relations machinery of this state, which is quite sophisticated now and has resolved many more intractable disputes that that is not being used to the fullest to get this dispute resolved, and I call on both sides to get back around the table and to get this sorted.”
